Repair home phone line -

How to do it and what you need to know!

When you are going to repair home phone line, there are a couple of things you will want to do.  First you need to understand where the problem might be.  To do this you need a few tools.  You will need your basic screw drivers and a phone line network check tool.

You can buy this at your local home depot.  This tool will allow you to make sure all of the phone lines are intact and working properly.  If you are not sure about using this tool just ask the home depot person how you can or read the directions that come with it.

The Instructions.

  • One end of the check tool will need to be put in the phone jack and the other you will use at the phone box to repair home phone line.  Listen for a tone after you hook it up.  If you get a tone then all is ok with that phone line.  Make sure you check all of the lines in your home, some lines can be crossed causing others to go out.

  • Make sure you also remove the covers of all the phone line jacks to inspect the wiring. Just do a quick look over to make sure each wire is intact and connected to the actual phone jack.

  • Make sure you inspect all the lines everywhere in the house.  Pull up the rug if you have too.

  • Look for any wires that are cut or frayed and replace them.

  • If the lines look old they may also need replacing.

  • If you have a pet look for anywhere your pet may have gotten to the line an chewed it up.

  • Don't forget to inspect any wires outside of the home.

If you still have trouble it is time to call your local phone company. The can come out and check for the problem usually very fast.  The downside to this is, if the problem is in the house then you will have to pay them for coming out.

You can inspect the box outside the house looking for bad wires, however do not open the box.  This is the phone companies job and they don’t like you opening their boxes.

Just remember to inspect everything inside the house when you try to repair home phone line.  All the wires, jacks, etc.  If you can’t find the problem then it’s more than likely an out side issue.

This should help you repair home phone line
